About Us

For close to a century, the LAW^® brand has evolved to what it is today - the most trusted brand in the automotive industry for F&I documents.

1929 - 1969

The LAW brand began in 1929 when LAW Printing Company started operations in Oxnard, California. Founder Charles Law grew his namesake into a known entity in the automotive industry, pioneering the first standard contract for financing the purchase of a car in 1967 now known as the California LAW^® 553^® Retail Installment Sale Contract.

1994 - 2004

LAW Printing drew the attention of The Reynolds and Reynolds Company, which acquired the company in 1994. In conjunction with leading automotive finance law firm Hudson Cook, LLC, Reynolds built upon the LAW 553's success by creating Retail Installment Sale Contracts for all 50 states. Since expanding to all 50 states in 1999, the LAW 553 has become the leading Retail Installment Sale Contract used by dealers and accepted by financial institutions across the country. LAW began licensing to electronic F&I vendors in 2004.

2007 - 2011

In 2007, we began a partnership with the Florida Automobile Dealers Association which led to the creation of a library of documents to accompany the LAW 553 in that state. This established a strong foundation with one of the nation’s largest ADAs, which we used as a springboard to build relationships with other ADAs across the country. LAW is now an ADA-recommended brand from Florida to California and dozens of states in between.

2012 - 2014

In 2012, LAW continued to solidify itself as a leader in the automotive finance industry by launching Reynolds' first complete state-specific library of F&I documents in collaboration with the California New Car Dealers Association. Today, we now offer a library of forms for all states to cover nearly every need of vehicle financing from coast-to-coast.

2015 - 2016

LAW began working with a major captive finance company in 2015 to create the LAW^® Lease Program. This program has grown over the years, with other major captives coming on board. In 2016, we acquired the indirect lending documents business owned by Wolters Kluwer and marketed under the BANKERS SYSTEMS^® brand.

2016 - 2020

As more and more lenders started moving to e-contracting, and dealers began embracing digital retailing, the trusted and widely accepted LAW documents were made available digitally.

2021 - Present Day

Seeing the need to help dealerships navigate ever-increasing legal and regulatory landscape, a team of LAW Compliance Consultants was formed in 2021 to help dealerships better manage their documentation. Automotive finance is constantly evolving, and so are we. LAW is dedicated to ensuring we are at the forefront of dealer F&I document solutions for years to come.
